How to prepare for your family session

Family photos, we get so excited when we finally book them, don't we? And then we start thinking about outfits, and shoes, accessories... and we get so overwhelmed we procrastinate till a week before the shoot. Oh, you don't do that? It's just me then, uh?

Well, let me walk you through the process of getting ready for your family session.

First of all, you want to choose a location with me, your photographer. Does this shoot represent a stage in your life? Think about how you will display your images. Do the colors of the location coordinate with your home decor? There are a bunch of different locations in Las Vegas to give you the look you are looking for.

Next will be the outfits, are you an all neutrals kind of gal? A red dress and high heels? A lacy gown? I always suggest going with something you would normally wear, as opposed to something trendy or something you think *might* look good, but you would never wear in real life. Also, I would choose your outfit first, and then pick everyone else's outfits based on yours. Try to have everyone coordinating but not all matchy-matchy. Plain clothes are best, avoid distracting patterns. Add sweaters or vests to add layers and texture to your photos.

If you have booked my luxe package, your makeup and hair will be done at your home, by a professional hair and makeup artist a couple of hours before the session. If not, I suggest keeping your hair down and make up very natural.

We will then meet at the location previously discussed, and I will take charge of the session. Your only job will be to look pretty and I will monkey and goof around to get your kids to smile. Some bribes may be involved, and you may have to take them to ice cream afterwards...

You will then be presented with a soft proofed gallery, where you will choose the photos you love, and I will edit and deliver them within two weeks of your selection. Any product ordered will be available for mailing or pick up two weeks after that.

You will then have your album or canvas, or both, beautifully displayed at your home.
